Working in support gives you the sense that nothing ever changes despite all the change that is happening around you. Ariba has a very real problem scaling their support org. To remedy this situation they've hired dozen out external support staff that are very often getting paid more than the folks who have the most experience and been with the company for years.
Management is trying to improve the work life of its employees, but still far from reaching anything fruitful. Big challenge for them is to retain talent which is something they are not actively contributing towards.

SAP Ariba is a great place to work. It is a relaxed atmosphere and the people there make it all worth while. A typical day at work involves answering lots of questions about a powerful piece of software. If you enjoy interacting with people and talking on the phone solving problems, then this is the place for you!

Overall the company is very good to work for. However, they strive to get customers to sign contracts for the cloud service causes issues with all other departments. The customer is sold on what the application can possibly do, not what it can do today. Then it is up to the follow-up departments like consulting, deployment services, technical support to break the bad news to the customer. The problem with this being, the customer goes back to their sales rep who demands you just do what the client is asking for. All departments are under pressure to perform, and no one gets mad about that, but the constant "he said/she said" back and forth causes animosity between departments. A lot of great people work there but there is a lot of misguidances in the day to day functions. Room for advancement can be improved. The current managers enjoy their positions and either do not want to move on, or there is nowhere for them to move on to. You end up spending a lot of time in your current role when there is to be career progression, but no real progress is made. Some promotions are lip service promotions at best with no real change in duties.

misleading customers on the reality of what can be done today versus what can be done in time, a lot of "yes men/women" to console customer complaints
