A very corporate environment, as to be expected with such a massive company. The timing and nature of my role ended up being less secure than usual due to major changes within the company. A very balanced work/life culture and always fantastic to be surrounded by expertise.
Consulting with SAP is very demanding. The travel requirements are immense and can really drag a person down. By being always assigned to projects, you may find you are the forgotten revenue source. That is, you will never interact with your bosses, or the firm's executives. You will bill lots of money for them, somewhere, and you will only ever hear from them when you make a mistake. Thus, recognition for all your sacrifice is very poor. The salary is good, and you will learn a great deal, but you will likely feel very isolated as a consultant.
learn a lot
Work, work, work, sleep, do laundry, head back to work.
Great place to work, good culture, good leadership. Learning ABAP is challenge without any prior experience (so technology stack is back dated). But new acquisition companies are performing real good and it is good opportunities there.
Working for SAP was a great experience with great people. Learning the SAP lingo took sometime but was all in good fun. Being introduced to new software applications was challenging at first but very rewarding.
Great Benefits, Wednesday's each department took a turn hosting breakfast for the company employees.
SAP offers a wonderful environment. My manager were great and they provided everything I needed. I have many friends in there. I recommend SAP as one of the most enjoyable companies to work.
SAP provides a fun work environment with supportive management. Not all about numbers however performance is to be expected. E-learning materials (some free, some cost-restricted) allow employee's opportunities to grow and develop. As the corporation is looking to implement a global LEAN culture, many colleagues wonder whether this includes eliminating employment positions as well.
Tax benefit lunches, 4 weeks vacation
SAP is a great company to work for, but it has its share of problems. There is a constant stream of company sponsored training courses available to ALL employees, even if the courses are specifically focused to one department. Compensation is top notch and a healthy life-work balance is always encouraged. Unfortunately the company is very large and suffers from a lot of bureaucracy and red tape. It likes to think it is as agile as any software start up, but it is very set it in its ways and ultra conservative. At the end of the day ANY position in the company is at the mercy of a DELETE key on some executives Excel spreadsheet. There is no loyalty among employees because they all sense this. The employees are just there for a pay check as long as they can. It's unfortunate because there is a lot of talent that SAP has acquired by gobbling up smaller software companies. Only to be squandered by letting the need to have a good quarter dictate what departments / workers are let go without a second thought.
Training and investment in employees
No loyalty to employees and squandering talent
